Week 2 Reflection

The Learn (Ako) part of Learn Create Share

It was interesting to listen to Dorothy talk about how past research of what are effective teaching practices have not been thrown out and are used in conjunction with digital technology not being just a tool. Many parents think that we are just putting a device in front of their children and it is used like pencil and paper. It would be great to be able to record Dorothy and push play when I get asked about digital classrooms. I would love to be able to read some of the research on the success of the Maniakalani Progamme over the past ten years to use to inform teachers at our school.

Rewindable Learning    Digital learning makes rewindable learning accessible to all students. It is easier for the teacher as well. Capturing the moment on Cell Phone and adding to folder on class site to turbo charge learning and making it rewindable.

Week 1 Reflection

In 2010 I was fortunate enough to visit Point England and Tamaki College as part of the Westland ICT project. I was excited and inspired by the impact that Manaiakalani had on the students learning and wanted to be part of it. Unfortunately the school that I was working in did not opt into Toki Pounamu so I made changes to my career to be part of this inspiring program.

Today there were so many tips and ideas to enhance my teaching and learning. I have made a document in one of the sessions today that will ensure I utilise all of this new learning by sharing three ideas with my colleagues and implement at least two ideas in my classroom.
